The Quick Guide to Boating in Austin, TX

I’ve partnered with my friends at DiscoverBoating.com to help everyone in Austin and beyond find accessible ways to enjoy boating! In most parts of the country, there is still plenty of time to go boating. In fact, one of the benefits of living in Central Texas is that our boating season lasts well until the fall – if you can even call our September and October hot weather as fall! So whether it’s over 100 degrees in the summer or in the 80s and 90s in spring and fall, we’re lucky to be able to take out a boat, go for a swim, try watersports and more for the majority of the year.

Krause Springs: One of the Best Swimming Holes in Texas

Just a 45-minute drive northwest of Austin is Krause Springs, one of the best swimming hole spots in the Central Texas Hill Country, if not all of the state of Texas! Krause Springs is a 115-acre property that is listed on the National Registry of Historic Sites and was founded by the Krause family in 1955 and has been in their ownership ever since. There are 32 springs on the grounds, some of which feed into the manmade swimming pool and the natural swimming hole area which flows into Lake Travis. The spring water that flows into the pools is 68° F year-round, making this a very refreshing spot to cool off from the hot Texas weather. And if you’re looking for a place to kick back and camp out that doesn’t require advance reservations, this just might be the spot for you. They have a large campground for tent camping, as well as 24 RV sites with water and electricity available that you can call and arrange in advance.

The Best Travel Books Written By Women To Sate Your Wanderlust

One of my favorite genres to read is female-written travel memoirs. I don’t know about y’all, but I do get very frustrated that all the popular ones are “Eat, Pray, Love”-style books – women are more than just their romances while traveling! So anyway, I wanted to start a comprehensive guide to the best travel books by women ( and especially ones I could find that are not romance-focused). Personally, I like to read about epic female adventurers, female solo travel, treks through the wilderness, and more. But, so many female travel memoirs are centered around meeting men abroad, etc, so I’m not excluding them from this list – I’d be leaving out a lot of great books! And everyone has their own preferences for what type of travel writing they want to read, after all.

Checking In: Four Seasons Resort Nevis

Welcome to Nevis, a small island in the Caribbean and part of the region of the Atlantic Ocean known as the West Indies. Nevis is part of the country of Saint Kitts and Nevis, along with its sister island next door, St Kitts (which is where the big international flights come into). In Nevis, their tourism campaign slogan is “Nevis Naturally” and it’s easy to see why. This small slice of paradise is one of the most unspoiled places you’ll ever find, and that’s what makes the Four Seasons Resort Nevis so magical. Here, you’ll find the majestic Nevis Peak (a potentially active volcano) as a backdrop to the resort, Green Vervet monkeys roaming the grounds, and nearby hot springs to relax in. Nevis has a little bit of everything!

Checking In: Four Seasons Resort Anguilla

Anguilla – the island of your dreams! With white sands and turquoise waters, it’s a true paradise in the Caribbean, and one of the dreamiest places I’ve ever been lucky enough to travel to. During our stay on Anguilla, we spent three nights at the incredible Four Seasons Resort Anguilla. The resort quickly climbed the ranks of favorite properties I’ve ever stayed at, and I think the photos are pretty self-explanatory on why.

Why Lord Howe Island, Australia Needs To Be On Your Travel Radar

Welcome to Lord Howe Island, Australia, often called the “Galapagos of Australia”. And it’s easy to see why! This place is STUNNING. I was invited by Destination New South Wales and Visit Lord Howe Island for a few days to experience all that this beautiful island has to offer with a small group of bloggers and journalists. And it was amazing! We snorkeled, took a boat ride around the island, went hiking, and ate delicious seafood. The whole experience was amazing, and I can’t wait to share it with all of you!
