The Laugarvatn Cottage
Located in the middle of the Golden Circle route, this cottage was completed in 2010. It’s only 10 minutes away from Geysir and 20 minutes from Gullfoss. For up to 6 guests maximum. From $260/night
The Akureyi Apartment – Villa Lola
Only 10 minutes outside of Akureyi, this apartment gives you a quiet view over the bay. This is one I have stayed at myself, and it is as beautiful as it looks in pictures. The building holds 3 apartments, of which you get the one to the left overlooking the fields (the most private and with the best view, in my opinion). Inside, there is a kitchen, a bedroom, and a loft upstairs with another bed. The apartment holds up to 4 guests. From $159/night
Hálsaból Sumarhús
This cabin is located on the Snæfellsnes penisula near to the town of Grundarfjordur. Remember the famous photos you always see of a mountain with 3 waterfalls in front of it under the Northern Lights? Well, this Airbnb is right on the side of that mountain, called Kirkjufell. This is another one I’ve stayed at myself, and it was an amazing experience. Bonus: the house has a hot tub and wi-fi! What more could you want? Up to 6 guests can stay in each house (there are two available for rent). From $154/night
The Black House
Located in Borgarnes, this traditional black timber house is the perfect pit stop whether you’re going to or from the Snæfellsnes peninsula. Its beautiful exterior is outdone by an even more beautiful interior. The house hosts up to 4 guests per stay. From $345/night
The Glass Cottage
Located in the south of Iceland near the town of Hella, this glass cottage offers the ultimate stargazing and Aurora viewing experience. And bonus, there’s also a hot tub! From $580/night
