The Tryall Club in Jamaica has 87 villas spread out over 2,200 acres on the northern Jamaican coast. Ranging from the oceanfront or high in the hills with an ocean view, there is quite literally a villa for everyone.
A huge golf course runs across the entire resort for those looking to play amongst the tropical flora and fauna of the Caribbean, and other luxurious amenities like hiking trails and top-of-the-line restaurants also don the resort. If you’re interested in the history of the property, a Heritage Tour can be arranged, which is a 1-2 hour escorted tour that takes you to spots like the Great House, the waterwheel, the remains of the 17th Tryall Fort, and more. There also are a bunch of tennis courts – 9 actually – and 24 tennis pros ready to help you out if you fancy a lesson.
Each villa at Tryall Club is unique, but all include staff like a chef and butler who will make a customized menu for your group based on your preferences. According to the Tryall Club’s website, since fresh fish is delivered directly to the villa, guests can simply tell the chef what they would like and they will make contact with the local fishermen! Truly the definition of farm-to-table! Or ocean-to-table, in this case. Having your own staff on hand to make you rum punches by the pool and up to three meals a day is the peak of luxury travel.
During my visit, I stayed at the glorious Following Seas Villa. This six-bedroom luxury villa is located atop one of the highest points on the resort. From the outdoor dining gazebo to the communal lounge space to the infinity pool, the villa’s features emit glamour while the bright colors and homey interior make guests feel comfortable.
Following Seas has four bedrooms in the main house, while its guest house offers two additional rooms. I was lucky enough to stay in the guest house, which is a separate cottage slightly away from the main house. We even had our own small pool and a gorgeous view of the ocean out of our bedrooms. It doesn’t get much better than waking up to these views right from your bed.
But, even though we had our own private little space, most of the time we spent at the main house of the villa with its large infinity pool and separate secluded hot tub deck (seriously, you really feel like you’re in the jungle over there). My absolute favorite feature of Following Seas though was the back deck, so to speak, that overlooked a large tropical valley. It’s really quite something. So between the ocean views from the pool and tropical views out back, you really have a taste of all the best of the Caribbean at Following Seas.
If you don’t want to spend all the time at your villa, there are communal spaces, including a pool and beach with its Beach Restaurant and Beach Grill dining options. I definitely recommend heading down to grab a tropical cocktail at the Beach Grill and a lobster roll, and then spend a minute lazing about in the infinity pool as you overlook the ocean. Paradise!
While I was only there for a short visit, I did have the chance to do a few bonus activities while there. For one, we had someone from the Worthy Park Estate come by with a rum tasting and short history lesson. If you have more time than I did, I definitely would recommend going to a rum distillery for a tasting and tour while you’re in Jamaica! We also had the chance to go horseback riding on the beach with Chukka Caribbean Adventures. I’d never ridden a horse IN THE OCEAN before, but it was quite exciting! If you’re looking to do something fun off-property during your visit, like an ATV tour, bamboo rafting, zip-lining and more, The Tryall Club can help you arrange any tour you need. You can check out some examples here.
If you’re looking for a luxury getaway to Jamaica, it really doesn’t get much better than this. If you have a group or family especially, The Tryall Club seems like a no-brainer to me. It’s no wonder TripAdvisor’s Traveler’s Choice awards just ranked them #1 in ’Top 25 Hotels for Families — Caribbean’! It just doesn’t get better than this.
