If you’ve ever dreamed of staying in a real Scottish castle, Kilbryde Castle is an incredible and affordable option. Located in Dunblane, just over an hour north of Edinburgh and close to Stirling, this historic castle offers a truly unique stay in the Scottish countryside.
A Magical Stay at Kilbryde Castle
For just over $200 per night with a 3-night minimum stay required, you can stay in a spacious apartment on the ground floor of Kilbryde Castle, which sleeps up to six guests (perfect for a family castle stay!). The apartment includes two bedrooms with multiple beds, so if you want to limit how many adults are sharing a room, the optimum number for a group stay I’d recommend is four adults or six guests with kids included.
I want to note – the Airbnb is the castle apartment that used to be the servant quarters. It has plenty of room and includes one bathroom, a kitchen, and living room along with the two bedrooms, but you do not get access to the rest of the castle, as the owners live there.
Beyond the stunning architecture, guests have access to 15 acres of beautifully maintained castle gardens, making for a peaceful and picturesque retreat. This is the best part of the stay, and the castle makes for a wonderful backdrop for photos.
Exploring Stirling and Beyond
Because Kilbryde Castle is tucked away in the countryside, you’ll need a rental car to reach it. The drive from Edinburgh is scenic and takes just over an hour, making it an easy addition to your Scotland itinerary.
Flying into London? Consider taking the Caledonian Sleeper Train to Edinburgh then renting a car!
One of the best things about staying at Kilbryde Castle is its convenient location. Stirling, known for its rich history and the famous Stirling Castle, is just a short drive away. From here, you can explore nearby landmarks like the Wallace Monument or take a day trip to St. Andrews, as we did!
Kilbryde Castle is also only 10 minutes away from Doune Castle, made famous for being used in film and television in Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Outlander. Make sure to do their Monty Python-themed audio tour during your visit to Doune Castle!
