Imagine waking up in your own luxury treehouse-style suite, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of snow-dusted forests. And if you’re lucky, the Northern Lights might be dancing overhead. Located just outside Rovaniemi, the official hometown of Santa Claus, the Arctic TreeHouse Hotel blends sustainability and comfort. It’s definitely one of the most Instagram-worthy places in Finnish Lapland.

2. Icehotel – Jukkasjärvi, Sweden
You can’t talk about unique Lapland stays without mentioning Sweden’s legendary Icehotel. Located in the small village of Jukkasjärvi near Kiruna, it’s rebuilt every year from blocks of ice harvested from the frozen Torne River. Each room is a literal work of art, sculpted by international artists. When I stayed here, sleeping wrapped in a thermal sleeping bag on a bed carved from ice was surreal… but absolutely unforgettable!

- New artistic themes each winter
- Ice bar and ice chapel and more to explore
- They’re the original ice hotel!

This one’s a dream for architecture lovers. Tucked into the forests of northern Sweden, the Treehotel features futuristic treehouses like the Mirrorcube, Bird’s Nest, and UFO. Each one is designed by renowned Scandinavian architects and offers a totally different experience. I haven’t stayed here yet, but it’s high on my list for a future trip.
Why it’s cool:
- Unique architectural treehouse designs
- Stunning, secluded forest environment
- Northern Lights and wildlife viewing opportunities
5. Wilderness Hotel Muotka – Saariselkä, Finland
Wilderness Hotel Muotka is perfect if you’re craving something a little quieter and more remote. Tucked away in the forest near Saariselkä, it’s one of those places where you can truly disconnect. They have cozy Aurora Cabins with panoramic glass ceilings, along with rustic log cabins that make you feel completely at home. I’ve stayed here twice now with my Lapland group trips, and it’s a wonderful place to stay – great activities, food, etc.

For the ultimate Christmas vibes, Santa Claus Holiday Village delivers. Located right in the heart of Santa Claus Village on the Arctic Circle, these cheerful cabins are super cozy and festive. Each one even comes with its own private sauna, which felt amazing after a snowy day out. I loved being just steps from Santa’s post office, getting a photo with Santa, and the loads of fun activities they have on property here. This is a fantastic option if you’re doing a family trip to Lapland with kids!
